Davids Restaurant was established in March 2000 by David Wilson and David Humpston, following the success of their café/bistro in nearby Cecil Street for 10 years.
The Davids were passionate about fine dining, exquisite wine and attentive service. A passion which continues with us today.
In 2002, Chris Austin joined the team as Head Chef and brought with him a wealth of experience, alongside his drive and commitment to high levels of quality and local ingredients. Chris studied at Carlisle College, before joining Crosby Lodge. He attributes his love of cooking to his Granddad Joseph, who was from Malta. They would spend hours together in the kitchen preparing meals for the entire family. Joseph’s handwritten recipe books are still used in our families kitchen today and the influences of seasonal Maltese, Italian, French & British cuisine can be found in our dishes.
In August 2010, both Davids took the decision to retire and Chris was the obvious successor. In the last 20 years, the restaurant has gone from strength to strength and we remain ever faithful to the Davids original vision
of a relaxed fine dining experience.
